Are electric bikes slower than petrol bikes?
Not at all. Contemporary electric bikes such as the Oben Rorr EZ Sigma and Oben Rorr EZ have a top speed of 95 km/h, which is equivalent to most 125cc - 150cc petrol motorbikes that are widely used in urban areas. Actually, electric bikes provide instant torque, i.e., they accelerate faster—e.g., the Oben Rorr EZ Sigma reaches from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. So as far as speed and acceleration go, Oben electric bikes are on par with petrol bikes, with the added advantage of cheaper running costs and no emissions.
In addition to strong performance, electric bikes also become more affordable when you factor in the various state and central electric bike subsidies. Many states in India offer attractive subsidies on electric two-wheelers, which can significantly reduce the upfront cost.
